NHL Hart Trophy Prediction | News Article by handicapper911.com

The NHL season is over a week, so it is time to predict the Hart Trophy winner. The Hart Trophy is equivalent to the MVP award given in other sports.

There are a handful of contenders for this award, and it will likely be a close race this season.

The Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid has the best odds to win the Hart Trophy at 200. McDavid won this award last season and in the 2020-2021 season. Understandably, Vegas deems him the most likely player to win it again.

McDavid has torn up the NHL since making his debut in 2015 but stepped up even more last season.

The center is an incredible shooter and displays lightning-quick speed on the ice. The 26-year-old Canadian is coming off a 64-goal, 89-assist season. He eclipsed the 150-point mark, and I do not see why he will not do it again this year.

The New Jersey Devils’ Jack Hughes has the next best odds to win the Hart at 400. Hughes is only 22 years old, making him one of the faces of the NHL’s youth movement. The 2019 first-overall pick has proven his worth in his short career and is coming off his best season.

Hughes played in 78 games last year and finished with 43 goals, 56 assists, and a /- of ten. The Florida native has all the necessary skill sets to excel in this league and be a top-five player.

The third player I will talk about is Toronto’s Auston Matthews. Matthews is as good as advertised. There is a reason he was the first overall pick in the 2016 Draft. The 6’3” center put up 40 goals and 45 assists last season and is off to a blazing hot start this year.

In six games, Matthews has seven goals and one assist. Obviously, he will slow down with time, but too much. Watch out for the 26-year-old to have another dominant year. I am choosing to be boring this year and will recommend betting on Connor McDavid to win the Hart Trophy. His skill set is unmatched and will push him to another Hart.

NFL Week 9 Public Betting Preview (To Fade or Follow?)

Fading the public is a statement you have likely heard before. NFL bettors sometimes use this approach based on the assumption and studies that the house usually wins and that the casual bettors often make incorrect and emotional predictions.
