Is Lamar Jackson the best bet to win the 2024 NFL MVP? | News Article by handicapper911.com

With its short, grueling, and physical season, the NFL has long been one of the hardest leagues to predict in American professional sports history.

Aside from a few select dynasties, the NFL consistently produces surprise stories and new, unexpected victors year in and year out.

Not only is it difficult to try to forecast team success in this league, it can be even more challenging to try to peg individual success in this sport.

This is why the draft is such a crapshoot. Even among the top picks in the selection process, there are more busts than prospects who outperform their expectations in the first round of each NFL Draft. Even trying to place top performers among established talent is a nearly impossible task.

And, yet, fans, pundits, and analysts enjoy doing so ahead of each and every season. While it might not lead to any consistent success, it’s always a fun exercise to try to predict the winner of the NFL’s individual honors before each season begins.

And, of course, with predictions come betting odds. Betting on NFL futures is almost always a crapshoot, but it’s a fun investment that can help keep bettors hooked on the results of every week of the season.

For MVP, sportsbooks have three different names tied for the favorite: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow at 700.

It’s unsurprising to see quarterbacks leading this wager, as they almost always capture the nod, but there’s one gunslinger who’s being overlooked. By the same sportsbooks, Lamar Jackson was given 1300 odds, which might just be the best bet on the board.

With a new offensive coordinator drawing up plays for him and a whole slew of weapons joining the charge, Jackson may just bounce back to form and capture his second MVP trophy.

There are a few other enticing lines, such as Aaron Rodgers on a new team and Trevor Lawrence entering an all-important third season both given 1700 odds, but it’s hard to find better value than a 26-year-old dual-threat quarterback who’s already won it once at 1300.

A few other names are certainly worth a look.

Jalen Hurts, coming off a Super Bowl appearance, was tagged at 1200. And those that believe in exponential growth in young quarterbacks might consider Justin Fields at a lofty 2500.

Scanning the entire board, though, if one was to fade the top three favorites, Lamar Jackson has to be considered the best bet available.
