The Golden State Warriors offense is built around superstar point guard Steph Curry. Curry may be 34 and in the back half of his career, but he is coming off a season that saw him average 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.3 steals. Beyond Curry’s numbers, he is one of the most impactful players in the NBA and runs the Warriors’ offense.

Steph Curry is a top-ten player all time and arguably the best point guard ever to play the game of basketball. He cemented his legacy with his fourth NBA title and inches closer to the GOAT conversation with each accolade he receives. However, this begs the question, will he ever be in the GOAT conversation?

The short answer is no. Steph Curry is a tremendous talent, a top-ten player, and some would say a better point guard than Magic Johnson. In addition to being a 4x NBA Champion and the 2022 Finals MVP, he is an 8x All-Star, 2x MVP, and has been named to four All-NBA First Teams and three All-NBA Second Teams. However, these accolades do not put him in the GOAT debate we often hear.

Steph Curry is not in the debate because he has had incredible teammates, while LeBron James has taken teams that lack star power (except for him) to the NBA Finals.

Curry won his first championship in 2015. He won this with the help of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and a younger Andre Igoudala. He followed that up by winning two consecutive championships in 2017 and 2018 with Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Igoudala, and Kevin Durant. It is a very impressive that he won all these championships, but the Warriors had incredibly talented rosters that other teams could not match.

Even though Curry is not in the GOAT debate, he is still a generational talent and a joy to watch. He is the greatest shooter of all time and has a knack for creating shots. As fans, we should appreciate how incredible he is because we do not know how much longer he will be in the league.

We have released only a handful of NBA games so far this season. Now is the time to sign-up and start winning.
